The Citizens' Assembly selection process is underway

The final stage of the process to select members of the Ontario Citizens' Assembly begins Saturday May 27, 2006 with the first in a series of selection meetings happening across the province through the month of June.

Individuals who expressed an interest in serving on the Citizens' Assembly and were invited to the meetings form the pool from which one Assembly member and two alternates will be selected (from each of Ontario's 103 electoral districts). Members of the public interested in observing the selection process are invited to attend selection meetings; a schedule of weekend meetings is available on the Elections Ontario website. The selection process, conducted by Elections Ontario, will be completed on or before July 14 and the first meeting of the Citizens' Assembly is planned for September 2006.
